Glastonbury citizens are encouraged to attend the Board of Education’s upcoming budget workshops and learn about next year's budget. At the workshops, the Board will review the Superintendent's proposed budget in detail and request further information if needed. The Board plans to vote on the education budget at their January 12, 2026, meeting at 7 pm.

Thank you to those who organized and attended Veterans Day celebrations and activities at our schools. It is one of our favorite days of the school year. We are most appreciative of the many veterans who visited, celebrated, and taught our students valuable lessons about service, honor, freedom, and duty. The Glastonbury School Counseling Department was honored by the Board of Education for its outstanding leadership in engaging the community on the impact of technology on children. Director of School Counseling Ted Gregorski and School Counselor Sarah Rubelmann accepted the award, which recognized the district’s efforts to help families support healthy, balanced technology use.
Glastonbury Public Schools French Program received an "Exemplary with Distinction" recognition from the American Association of Teachers of French. This is the highest level of the award, and GPS is one of only nine schools or districts in the nation to receive the award in 2025.

The Smith Middle School Girls and Boys Cross Country teams both took first place at the 32nd Connecticut Middle School XC Championships held at Wickham Park.
This marks the Boys Team’s first championship win since 2015 and the Girls Team’s third consecutive first-place finish.

The Board of Education's current long-term facilities plan is set to expire in 2027. A new 10-year plan for school space is under development. The new plan will address short and long-term solutions to elementary school space issues and the need to modernize many of our schools through building renovations.
This is a complex issue with no easy answers. The Board is still in the early research stage, and no decisions have been made. We encourage you to learn more. The Glastonbury High School Drama Club will present The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 in the GHS auditorium at 7:00 pm on November 14, 15, 21, and 22. Tickets are available online for $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens.

Glastonbury Public Schools was recently honored by the CT Association of Boards of Education with 6 communications awards. The district received the award for the 25-26 budget, the 25-26 budget presentation, the 25-26 art calendar, the teaching and learning website, the elementary school handbook, and for two videos: an educator recruitment video and the 2025 graduation highlight video.
In addition, the district was recognized nationally in 2025 by the National School Public Relations Association with 5 awards, including one for excellence in writing and one for the GenAI classroom poster.

Congratulations to Glastonbury High School Latin teacher, Mr. Joey Meyer! Now entering his 21st year of teaching in our district, Mr. Meyer is a dynamic educator who teaches with heart, purpose, and charisma.
Mr. Meyer is known for his lively, student-centered Latin classes. Beyond the classroom, his commitment to building a positive and connected community is evident in all he does. Mr. Meyer has inspired countless students to deepen their understanding of our complex world and the people in it.
